This is The Nymph and the Faun. I think Greek mythology is pretty screwed up. So I tried to think of the most messed up situation for my piece and this is what I finally arrived at.
"The Faun has been teased and provoked by beautiful nymphs all his life. He has lived with constant frustration because no nymph will please him the way they please the other fauns. So he devises an evil plan to get a nymph. He hides away in the shadows of the forest, practicing a seductive melody to lure in Alana, the most beautiful nymph in the woods. She has a young daughter, Zasha. One day, as Alana and Zasha were walking in the forest, they heard the most enchanting song they had ever heard. They walked deep into the shadow area and found the Faun playing the melody. Alana got closer to the Faun and as she was at arms length, he jumped up at her and slit her throat. Zasha did not notice as she was still bewitched by the tune. Alana dies and the Faun takes his much desired prize, a young nymph." I told you it was messed up.
I went for the monochromatic look because I was inspired by the greek vases and jars that use these colors.
